Science is an adventure of the human spirit paving the way to our future.
At WE, my aim is to instill the curiosity and nurture understanding of the natural world around us through the prism of science.

Our classes have motivated the students to a new level of English abilities as the wonder of science reveals its true values in our lives.
Active participation and the Engaement of expansive ideas is the Mantle of progress for true English communication.
I welcome you to join in and experience a program of science and English with a unique appeal for children.

Instructor Lee Buckley
In the coldest months of the year, classroom can be one of the
warmest and most comfortable places to be.
We all arrive at WE with faces pink from the cold and with chilled
bones but quickly thaw out as we commence study.
After the success of the Winter Wonderschool, we have settled down and
undertaken both new and familiar work.
For many students this involved the challenge of the Eiken test in late
January. It was a great encourgament that
the hectic environment of the Wonderschool and the influence of so many
native speaker English teachers helped bring
about some outstanding results. I hope that all students keep improving and
keep their focus on achieving mastery of
English. We should see some successful lives come from these long hours of
hard work.
The I-S-G students continue to be an inspiring example of precocious
ability and creativity matched with charisma.
It's an unfailing delight to engage in high level communication with such
personable youngsters. The ability to be able to be
humourous and creative in a foreigh language is a hallmark of advanced
skills. Often their creativity and wit asfound me.
They, in common with other students, are about to commence a new story
book: "The Coldest Place on Earth".
This is the true story of the historical race to plant the first flag at the
South Pole. It is a tragic story but engrossingly
entertaining.

A highlight of the WILL English pavilion Winter Wonderschool was the New Year
shrine visit to Tomioka Hachimangu in Monzen Nakacho. Not only was the
visit an opportunity to observe tradition in the company of foreign
teachers but also a chance to learn about the deep local history of the
area.
We learnt about the foundation of the area in the mid 17th century
after the construction of the first Eitai bridge. The temple and shrine
both date from this time. We admired the giant mikoshi, the biggest,
heaviest and most valuable in all Japan. Its cost was more than 1 billion
yen !, but unfortunately it is too heavy to participate in the Fukagawa
matsuri - one of the great festivals of Tokyo.

We observed the monument to Tadataka Inou, the father of modern
Japanese mapmaking and surveying.
The Yokozuna monument at the rear of the shrine made a great impression on
the boys and the teachers. The boys also enjoyed
demonstrating their strength in mochi pounding. They very happily enjoyed
eating the results of their hard work !
For all concerned it was a wonderful day connecting to the history and
culture of the Fukagawa area.
